About This Place

Nestled in the heart of Diamond Bar, Paper Pot Shabu Shabu offers an authentic and inviting experience for lovers of Japanese cuisine and Asian fusion. Specializing in sukiyaki, shabu shabu, and hot pot, this restaurant masterfully blends traditional flavors with modern touches that keep diners coming back for more.

The culinary journey at Paper Pot Shabu Shabu starts with their thoughtfully crafted broths—ranging from the light and umami-rich kombu broth to the bold and spicy pork soup. Each hot pot arrives brimming with fresh vegetables such as Napa cabbage, bok choy, broccoli, carrots, and enoki mushrooms, paired perfectly with silky tofu and glass noodles or hearty udon. The real stars, however, are the premium meats: the melt-in-your-mouth American Wagyu, tender AYCE Beef Bulgogi, and decadent Kobe Black Chuck. For seafood enthusiasts, the hot pot boasts an impressive selection including shrimp, mussels, scallops, and squid, ensuring every bite delivers oceanic freshness.

One can’t miss the signature Bulgogi Shabu or the indulgent Wrapped Cheese, which offers a playful, rich contrast to the savory broths. Complementing the dishes are an array of dipping sauces like the creamy goma and tangy ponzu, elevating each bite with layers of flavor. Whether you’re savoring the Spicy Pork Bone Soup or the unique Birria-inspired Tortilla Soup, every dish at Paper Pot Shabu Shabu is crafted to provide a deeply satisfying and interactive dining experience.

The atmosphere here balances cozy and spacious effortlessly. Unlike many other shabu shabu spots, Paper Pot is notably roomy, making it a comfortable space whether you’re dining with family or enjoying a quiet meal solo. The attentive service enhances the experience without ever being intrusive. Utilizing convenient iPad ordering, guests find the process seamless and efficient, especially appreciated during busier times. Shoppers and locals have continuously praised the restaurant’s consistency and quality—one loyal customer shared how they drive from afar just to enjoy their flavorful broths and excellent meat selection.

For those who love to recreate the shabu shabu experience at home, Paper Pot provides "Cook at Home" kits featuring premium cuts like the 12 oz American Wagyu or Kobe Black Chuck, complete with vegetables, choice of broth, rice, and dipping sauces. This thoughtful offering ensures the magic of Paper Pot’s kitchen can be savored any time.

With competitive pricing, generous portions, and thoughtful complimentary perks such as free echo bags for orders over $50 and face masks for purchases over $25, Paper Pot Shabu Shabu not only blends top-quality ingredients but also genuinely cares for their guests. It’s a destination where every visit feels like a celebration of flavors, warmth, and culinary tradition—perfect for those seeking a vibrant yet comforting Asian fusion meal in Diamond Bar.

Came here during lunch time. The building is not busy, easy to find parking. Nothing has changed since prepandemic, it was easy to order through the Ipad. The staffs were attentive, the food came out pretty quickly. It still tastes as good like before, definitely recommended.

Been coming to this place with the family for many years now, 10+ years. Very minor changes throughout the years, but overall the food is always of great quality and taste. Even though I don't live in the area anymore, I still drive over just to eat here. Broths are flavorful and have many options, meat selection is great and love their goma sauce.

Really good! Definitely recommend it. The amount of food is good, the amount of vegetables they give was nice. You do have to pay a $10 fee if you share food with someone. Went on a Saturday night for dinner and the wait was around 20-25 minutes.

Very spacious eating area unlike a lot of other Shabu Shabu places I've been. Everything always tastes great and the service is so friendly.

Customizable shabu shabu with meat and vegetarian options. My family and I have been coming here for years. This is the spot where we’ll take people who are in town or for when it’s a cold night. You pick the type of meat (Kobe beef or the bulgogi are good bets) and the size (6 oz is quite filling already). There is a tofu and mushroom option available for vegetarians as well. You then pick the kind of broth (spicy yaki is sweet and spicy, while the house spicy is salty and spicy) and can also upgrade to a “wow” combo for $3 more (I would suggest one person get it if you’re with multiple people to share the extras, otherwise it’s a lot). The wow combo includes dumplings and sausage and ramen noodles to name a few things included. You can adjust the heat settings yourself although the waiters will set it for you in the beginning. Parking is easy since there’s a lot, bathrooms are available, they do take credit card, and there’s no free WiFi. The food is really tasty and fun to cook - definitely come check this out whenever you’re in Diamond Bar.
